Japanese Cultural Awareness

This site is designed to give people from the United States a greater understanding of various Japanese cultural aspects.

Learning objectives of this site: Gain a greater sense of self culture (U.S.) and cultural awareness of Japan; Become aware of similar and different non-verbal communication styles; Become aware of any personal biases to Japanese culture; Recognize that cultures diverse from the U.S. may seem very different, but are not deemed as wrong; Gain an insight onto individual perceptions within the two cultures; Begin to understand how to communicate with people from Japan in both a verbal and non-verbal context; Gain some insight as to how to analyze situations of harassment, discrimination, prejudice, and/or discomfort in a cross-cultural context.
